Collections Department of the Sybir Memorial Museum – preparations for EMYA 2025
This time, we would like to introduce the Collection Department’s activity, which is a significant part of the EMYA2025 organization process.
The Collection Department of the Sybir Memorial Museum is the heart of the institution, responsible for gathering, preparing and taking care of the museum’s collection. Employees of this department contact donors, take part in auctions and characterize objects in the MONA museum system in a very precise way. Making the collections’ scientific documentation is a very fascinating process of establishing the origin and history of the museum artefacts and people connected with these objects. The conservation of objects in order to preserve them for the following generations is also the crucial task of this department.
The Collection Department on the EMYA2025 is going to present its work during thematic meetings arranged as workshops, organized within the Sybir Memorial Museum’s Day on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Participants will have the opportunity to:
- learn about specifics of the Collection Department’s work and the collection’s characteristics,
- see the unique exhibits,
- check objects after the conservation — within this part participants will see a multimedia presentation showing the process of conservation.
