Join us in the trip to Supraśl — a picturesque town located in the a region of Knyszyńska Forest. The Orthodox monastery in Supraśl from the late 15th century, has had a turbulent history. It was not only a religious center but also a cultural and educational one. During World War II, it was blown up by the Germans and was reconstructed a few years ago. This Gothic fortified church, which also has Baroque architectural elements and unique 16th-century frescoes, is an exception in Europe.
Today, the monastery still functions, being an important center of Orthodox spiritual life in Poland.
When visiting Supraśl, you cannot miss the beautiful Buchholtz Palace, owned by a family of local entrepreneurs in the past. The palace from the late 19th century impresses with its rich decor and Art Nouveau ornaments. Surrounded by a green park, it is a perfect place for a walk and a moment of relaxation.
Supraśl began to develop dynamically in the 19th century, becoming an important regional center of the textile industry. The characteristic “Weavers’ Houses”, where local inhabitants worked on looms, are now a testimony of that time.
Participants will be provided with lunch.
